Space Interceptor Missile

Space Interceptor Missile, or SIM, is a blanket term covering a wide variety of missiles designed to be fired from a moving launcher and hit or "intercept" another moving target. Similar to an air-to-air missile.

There is no one specific make or model, and similar weapons are operated by many space-fairing civilizations. The key difference is an advanced guidance system, usually "fire and forget", contrast to "dumb" or ballistic missiles that when fired travel in a straight line and lack the ability to track a target or change course.
