Facets are little elements of your character that grant abilities or provide bonuses. Unless specifically flagged as a class Facet, assume any of these can be taken as free facet choices.

Proficiency Facets

Proficiency Facets are only available at character creation and at specific times in character level.


Combat

  • Weapon Proficiency - Bladed
  • Weapon Proficiency - Blunt
  • Weapon Proficiency - Martial
  • Weapon Proficiency - Ranged
  • Weapon Proficiency - Empty-Hand
  • Weapon Proficiency - Thrown

Armor

  • Armor Proficiency - Light
  • Armor Proficiency - Medium

  • Special Proficiency - Dodge

  • Special Proficiency - Tinkering

Free Facets

Passive Ability Facets

These are general passive abilities.

  • Extra Cool-Down - grants the character 1 additional open cool-down slot. This is a generic slots and may be used for anything.

Stat Increases

These Facets provide a stacking bonus to specific stats. There is one for every stat:

  • Stat Increase I - Gives +1 to the chosen stat
    • Stat Increase II - Gives +1 to the chosen stat
      • Stat Increase III - Gives +1 to the chosen stat


  • Strength
  • Dexterity
  • Recovery
  • Stamina
  • Speed
  • Intelligence
  • Wisdom
  • Will


Off-Proficiency Proficiencies

These facets grant you access to certain abilities you may not otherwise have. You receive the chosen proficiency with 3 skill points permanently assigned to it. You cannot add additional skill points to it while leveling, however any bonuses that increase that proficiency still apply. The proficiency is still capped by the associated stat.

  • Off-Proficiency, Shield - grants the ability to use shields.
  • Off-Proficiency, Armor, Light - grants the ability to wear light armor.
  • Off-Proficiency, Armor, Medium - grants the ability to wear medium armor.
  • Off-Proficiency, Armor, Heavy - grants the ability to wear heavy armor.

Active Ability Facets

Taking one of these Facets grants you access to the Activated Ability. See Activated Abilities for what these actually DO.

General

  • Blind

  • Healing Draught

Combat

  • Injure

Proficiency Enhancements

These make proficiencies stronger or grant extra abilities to those that have the proficiency. These are considered "free facets" for the purposes of granting them. Obviously, you need to have the facet that grants the proficiency to make them work.

Fighting Facets

Wielding Facets

  • Large 2-Weapon Fighting - allows you to equip Large 1-handed weapons when dual-wielding. Requires: Special Proficiency - Dual Wielding
    • Very Large 2-Weapon Fighting - allows you to equip Very Large 1-handed weapons when dual-wielding.
      • Immense 2-Weapon Fighting - allows you to equip immense 1-handed weapons when dual-wielding.
        • Three-Handed Fighting - you may equip a 2-handed weapon to your main-hand and fight with it as if it were a single-handed weapon.
          • Four-Handed Fighting - you may now equip 2-handed weapons as if they were 1-handed, both main-hand and off-hand.
            • Serial Escalation - you may now dual-wield any weapon listed as type: Ranged, and receive an additional bonus if anyone comments on the absurdity of doing so.
  • Dual Shot - allows you to use throwing weapons with both hands and make an additional attack each turn. Requires: Weapon proficiency - Thrown; Special Proficiency - Dual Wielding

Weapon Focus Facets

Rather than list all of these out I'm just going to explain how it works. Every weapon has a Supertype, Subtype, and Type. The Supertype is the basic proficiency. These facets give you extra bonuses for various specializations. Example:

  • Weapon Focus: Bladed - Grants a bonus when using a bladed weapon Prerequisites: Weapon proficiency: Bladed
    • Weapon Focus: Swords - Grants a bonus to attack when using a sword. Prerequisites: Weapon proficiency: Bladed
      • Weapon Focus: Longsword - Grants a bonus to attack when using a Longsword. In addition, your Weapon Proficiency: Bladed now scales with character level instead of class level if you are wielding a longsword. Prerequisites: Weapon Focus: Swords.
  • Weapon Finesse - Glancing Blows now deal weapon + damage in addition to their base damage. Prerequisites: Any Weapon Focus: Subtype facet. Anti-requisites: Weapon Strength.
  • Weapon Strength - Weapons that would crit on 3 dice now crit on 2. Prerequisites: Any Weapon Focus: Subtype facet. Anti-requisites: Weapon Finesse.

Dice Facets

  • Extra Strike - on your effect dice table, 3 now counts as a Strike.

Exclusively Reserved

This is the list of facets that are NOT free but are granted only to specific classes.

  • Shoot on the Run - You receive +3 to-hit when firing a ranged weapon while moving.
  • Mage Extra Spell Cool Down - provides 1 additional cool-down slow that can only be used for casting spells.

Rogue Off-Proficiency List

These work like regular Off-Proficiencies but are exclusively reserved:

  • Off-Proficiency, Lore
  • Off-Proficiency, Deception
  • Off-Proficiency, Charisma
  • Off-Proficiency, Tinkering
  • Off-Proficiency, Dodge
  • Off-Proficiency, Stealth
  • Off-Proficiency, Shield - grants the ability to use shields.
  • Off-Proficiency, Armor, Light - grants the ability to wear light armor.
  • Off-Proficiency, Armor, Medium - grants the ability to wear medium armor.
  • Off-Proficiency, Armor, Heavy - grants the ability to wear heavy armor.
