''G.S.S. Invincible'' was the line-leader in a class of ultra-heavy dreadnoughts, the such ship to be built following the end of the [[Kamian Succession Wars]]. Designed in [[A.Y.]] 6836, the need for such vessels was thought to be in the past, but the [[Gudersnipe Foundation]] was not keen on loosing the ability to develop or field them.

==Design==
Reflecting the atmosphere of [[Grand Standardization]], ''Invincible's'' design was quite drab and uninspired compared to to the exotic characteristics from just a generation before.

===Weapons===
''Invincible'' lacked both a fixed forward-facing cannon and any other esoteric weapon systems. Instead, she was equipped only with the standard missiles, torpedoes, and main guns, though in truly impressive quantities. She sported 36 guns in 6 sex-tuple turrets. This was the first such turret ever built, and required radical re-engineering of the support systems.

Of torpedoes she had 128 tubs and missiles 1024 guided launchers. ''Invincible'' was not, as many reports claimed, equipped with a [[Bedlam]] system, though the designers had thoughtfully left room for a retrofit.

===Armor===
''Invincible'' used the standard all-or-nothing principle and fitted plates sixty feet thick. These were made with a new [[Steel-fired]] techinque that was experimental at the time but would later become the standard.

===Engines===
For [[N-Space]] a [[Gravitational Mass Displacement Drive]] was fitted, with some modifications to account for ''Invincible's'' considerable size. The [[FTL]] drive was of the standard design, and in fact a large enough mill-spec drive was not available, so ''Invincible'' served with a civilian-grade engine.

==Legacy==
Only about 40 ''Invincible''-class warships were built, just enough that the Foundation would always have some in service. It was important, they felt, to preserve the unique skills required to operate such large warships in case they were ever needed again.

As ''G.S.S. Invincible'', her crowning moment of glory was the raid on [[Motoro]], where she was involved in ending a pirate threat at the [[Terse Period#The Battle of Motoro-U|The Battle of Motoro-U]].
