New page

Sometimes called Mastership, these ships were large-scale planetary attack vessels, designed to conquer planets.

Not mentioned anywhere on any official documentation, the Master Ships are told of only in stories by worlds originally conquered by the old [[Gudersnipe Army]]. These were planetary attack ships, designed to carry an entire invasion force of up to a billion men. Complete with vehicles, supplies, even entire bases that could be dropped, ready-made from the sky, or wet-navys, anything the invading force needed to take over a planet.

Exaggerations run rampant as to the exact dimensions and capacity of the Master Ships, some evidence suggests that they may, in fact, have simply been Motherships carrying a ground-attack contingent. However, the few accounts of Motherships that have made it into the public knowledge often indicate some sort of gigantic docking pilon, if so than the Mastership is the only vessel they could have needed to dock with.

Assuming the accounts are correct, the crew would have to be anywhere from one-point-two to one-point-five billion strong, with a full billion of those dedicated to act as an invading army. The ships themselves would have to be tremendous, on the order of thousands of miles. Though conventional wisdom would dictate that taking such a ship into a solar system--let alone into planetary orbit--would be very nearly impossible. However, the old legends tell of these ships blocking out the very sun as they descended.

The only tell-tale sign that such enormous vessels ever existed lie in the solar systems they subjugated. Entire planets, knocked free of the stars they once orbited, drift away into the icy cold of space. Others with impossible orbits. These are rare, but more common is destruction on a scale only gravity from such massive starcraft could cause.

The only modern ships built on the scale of these vessels are the teraforming ships used by [[Terraforming#WorldCraft Terraforming Firm|WorldCraft Terraforming Firm]], who's second-generation of ships are over a thousand miles in length and carry millions of people. However, these ships are very narrow, and have relatively low mass for their size.
