New page

The Norrocco is a dragon sword meant for melee combat, designed to be wielded by a red-red fire dragon Tyrant. They are described as at least 30' long, with the hilt taking about a third of the total length, and a curve or hook on the end. Depending on the design, they may also have a spike at the far end. Norrocco has no crossguard, the hilt is full-tang and typically wrapped in dragon leather. Shed skin is the most common, though Norrocco forged during war will use skin taken from killed members of the flight. For the wooden part of the handle, only Iron Oak will do. Dragons were the earliest beings to work this wood.

In battle, the Norrocco is used for stabbing, slashing, and even as a thrown-weapon. Skilled Tyrants and hurt a Norrocco with trans-sonic speed and hit targets up to four miles away. For shorter distances, a chain may be attached for easier retrieval, and master-Tyrants can use deadly spinning attacks. The Norrocco is especially important as an armored Tyrant can take down much larger dragons single-handedly.

Use against humans is uncommon, most dragons prefer dragon fire for that. However, there are some accounts of Tyrants fighting armored knights.

Materials
Because of their size and the intense stresses required, ordinary mundane metals will never do. Only Magical Materials can be used, which makes all Norrocco enchanted. adamantium is the most likely culprit, though while many Norrocco have been shown to the public, none has ever been submitted for scientific analysis. It is believed that dragons understood the lost art of alloying magical materials, a technique unknown to humans after the end of the Dynastic Period.
