Ictheen are a species of summoned creature frequently used as guardians or impromptu soldiers. It is seven feet tall, arthropodal with no eyes, a large mouth with a very long tongue, and strong arms and legs. It is covered in a thin layer of soft fur. Ictheens are observed to exhibit high intelligence, and can follow complex commands, but seldom exist for more than a few hours.
Uses
The Ictheen summoning ritual is intriguing because, unlike most such rituals, it does not require a mage directly funneling power into it. As such, the ritual can be "set up" and then made to be triggered, with the Ictheen given some specific task upon existing. Ictheens are frewuently used as traps or guards, since they are very strong fighters.
Ictheens are also a popular choice for impromptu soldiers, though each needs a special ritual to summon. Bringing up several for a comming fight is not difficult, though they cannot be kept for more than a few hours.
