The Subway System:

This is your transportation hub to get you around the map. Normally, the Princess would never be caught dead riding on public transportation, but what are you gonna do?

The stations are located all around the map and numbered. The player will access them by entering the train and requesting the desired station. There are also several "secret" stations that have codes which can be found when the stations are discovered. All stations are effectively available from the beginning, but we can assume the player will not necessarily know which station is where.

Stations

These are the five main stations:

  • Station 1: Mountain City Station
  • Station 2: Valley City Station
  • Station 3: Barren Pine Village Station
  • Station 4: Coastal City Station
  • Station 5: Headlands Station

Each station is located in a game town. While you will have to walk to the town to get the number of the station, you could ride straight to it if you felt so inclined.

The Secret Stations are stations not listed on the map. You must either discover their numbers through talking to NPCs or by exploring the subway system itself.

  • Secret Station 1I: Dark Forest/Arcade Station
  • Secret Station 2II: Island Station
  • Secret Station 3III: The Dark
  • Secret Station 4IV: Station Inside Wayne's area.

Train

The train actually does travel through a long tunnel and the player is welcome to walk the tunnels on foot. There will be secrets and special items stashed in there for those willing to explore. The train itself will effectively "spawn" whenever the princess calls for it(she is after all the only person actually using it) so there is no need to remember where your train is parked, or to wait for trains. This is just meant to be more fun than your standard teleporter.

Secrets

The major secrets of the subway are the entire secret stations, which take you to locations you might otherwise be unable/difficult to reach. Three of these stations are just destinations, however, Station 3III is another matter. Labeled cryptically as "The Dark", this station includes the entrance to a secret dungeon that will eventually connect up with Generic Dungeon Crawler V.

No monsters will be found roaming the subways, but it will have many other secrets. Little niches, caches of items, secret rooms. Just in general its another fun place to explore.
