Contract

Contract is a short story from The Inclination to Destiny, volume IV of the Course Books.

Plot

With the help of his neighbor 'Russo' (pronounced 'Rousseau'), an Alliance Citizen (Dirk McAlister) obtains the magical strength and abilities of the 'Dark Lords', but minimal knowledge of how to control either. His use of this magic to destroy his family and remaining neighbors attracts Pendragon Hunter Jusenkyou, who uses the Ancient Magi Spiral Attack to destroy him. His gemlike source of power (probably a relic of the Mythical Age) is either thrown into a star (as offered by Jason Bur'I) or kept in secret. Afterward, Hunter treats the incident as a 'routine mission'.
