Even before the beginning of the Alliance, the term "age" was in common vernacular to reference different eras of history. Erists of the time even called the Mage Wars "The Age of Mages". When Eieber came to power, he declared "a new Golden Age" had begun, in reference, again, to the system of naming eras.
As such, the Ages of the Alliance are frequently referred to collectively as "The Age of the Alliance".
