The Foundation School is a university inside Valley Gail Keep in Arindell. It is not affiliated in any way with the Gudersnipe Foundation or Gudersnipe School.

One of the greatest and most lasting achievements of Pen Bob was the Foundation School: a university inside Valley Gail Keep itself. All the finest minds in the Alliance were invited to teach there, and attendance was free—with a catch. Students accepted to the University were given free room and board, and even travel expenses to and from their homelands, but in exchange they had to work in the castle as servants.

While the costs for running the school far exceeded the price of labor, it did insure that only smart, young, hardworking individuals roamed the corridors of the Alliance’s capitol building, but there was one other advantage.

Students of the University were drawn from the furthest corners of the Alliance; some even spent years making the journey. This made for an incredibly diverse student population. Working together, side by side, the members of the school became a kind of microcosm for the entire Alliance, and when they returned home they brought first-hand understanding of 'what else was out there'.
