Hygelic Jusenkyou was Hunter Jusenkyou's father, and the only child of Hrethrel Jusenkyou; thus any descendant of Hygelic would also be a descendant of Hrethrel. The story of Hygelic's Heirs is told on the mysterious Blood Stele.

Though Hrethrel was long dead before the events of the Course Books, he is known to have foretold all of them, including Hunter's attempt to escape his destiny in the jaws of Marigold. Hrethrel even forged powerful magical weapons against Samuel Fate.

Among Hrethrel's many prophecies was one that one of his son's heirs would finally destroy the Night Mother and put an end to the Society of Assassins. Because no one outside of the society knew of the Night Mother's existence (including Hrethrel), this prohpecy was somewhat difficult to take seriously. Still, the Society has attempted on several occasions to eliminate Hygelic's Heirs and were nearly able to kill Hunter Jusenkyou, though they did not realize at the time that he had a half-sister.

In the Consecution Books Hygelic has three living descendants, whom the Society is alternating between trying to kill and trying to convert.
