MuRN, short for Mu.ltie R.ole N.umber is a prefix generally assigned to projects and sometimes finished systems built around the Dynamic Response model. MuRN is similar to MEAN in that the systems are meant to be flexible, adaptable, and able to respond to a wide array of threats. The key difference is MEAN typically refers to vehicles such as tanks, trucks, cars, and small aircraft, while MuRN is reserved for wet-navy ships and smaller space warships.

Unlike MEAN where the prefix is usually used in general practice, MuRN is primarily part of the design and testing phase. Only particularly successful projects, such as the MuRN A22 Foxbat class of submarine often see the title stick around into full operational readyness..
