The New Stormreaver Messenger Mummies is the oldest continually operating business in New Arindell. The service began in N.D. 52, when the various work camps around the valley needed a way to communicate. Labor was in short supply and the task of carrying messages between the different formans was a job they simply could not spare workers for. The necromancers, busily rebuilding their temple, offered to deploy spare undead minions for this task. Called "Messenger Mummies", a single necromancer could easily control dozens of messengers at a time.

As the city grew and modern communications infrastructure was completed, the Messenger Mummies remained in service in an informal role, passing messages between individuals. During the reconstruction phase they formed a very useful part of the barter economy, with workers in different camps trading commodities delivered by undead. When the first permanent residents of the city arrived, the messengers became a formal courier company. As Arindell grew and evolved, the niche role played by the Messenger Mummies shrank, but the necromancers kept them around. Revenue from the service was small, but its value as a training tool for apprentice necromancers kept it viable. By the mid N.D. 200s, the Messenger Mummies mostly services Arindell's necromancer population, though non-necromancers hire them on occasion for the novelty. Telephone and traditional mail coupled with faster and more efficient human-run courier services has reduced the need for them.

But the Messenger Mummies persist. Their primary functional role is the value they play in the city's thriving NFM practice. Most of the healers live and work at the main temple complex, but necromancers live all over the city. As such, the mummies deliver medicine and sometimes preform remote therapies. Though not common, many non-necromancers make use of NFM.
