The Planes of Existence are different layers of reality (not to be confused with Dimensions or worlds). The two most well-known are the Astral Plane, the source of Magic, and the Material Plane, where everyone capable of reading this actually lives. Planes intersect with each other in different ways (for example the intersection of the Astral and Material planes allows magic to enter the material plane). Planes are mapped and observed by Seers and Auramancers. Seven planes are generally agreed upon, but standard models dictate there should be eight. Some seers disagree entirely and feel the number is into the dozens or even hundreds. Many cite the mysterious Void Plane as proof that there is more to existence than can be directly observed.

Modern science (in any Era), has never been able to prove the existence of Planes or directly observe any besides the Material Plane. Auaramancer Theories
The most widely accepted model (and accepted only because the Auramancer's guild has the best PR department) posits the existence of eight planes, each aligned to one of the Four Elements and Anti-Elements. This would make the planes as follows:
- Plane of Earth (the Material Plane)
- Plane of Fire (the Astral Plane)
- Plane of Wind
- Plane of Water
- Plane of Dust
- Plane of Ash
- Plane of Vacuum (the Void Plane)
- Plane of Salt
