The position of Squire Dragon was first created by Astrid Stador early in the Golden Age in order to give legitimacy to the little girl following her everywhere she went.

A Squire Dragon functions in a role similar to a knight's squire, in so far as they follow the Slayer Dragons and help them with their gear, open doors, run errands, and do general work.

The position was carried out informally for many years, and acted as a way for Slayer Dragons to foster and train youths from an early age to become Slayer Dragons. The position was not made official until the Second Age, when Robert Desaradie legitimated the practice and established the first set of rules to govern it.

Notes

The Squire Dragon should not be confused with the office of Squire from the kingdom of Bur'I.
