Tournament World is a large flat dimension and formally a part of the Alliance though administrated as Joint Space. The name refers specifically to a large section of it, though it has numerous populated regions.

Regions and Demographics

Like most Flat worlds, the dimension has not been fully mapped or explored, and may connect up with other flat dimensions. The area refered to as Tournament World covers a region of roughly nine million square miles, including two mountain ranges, a sizable desert, and several inland seas. The regions are typically named for their terrain, called simply "Desert Region", "Mountain Region", etc.

For its size, Tournament World is sparsely populated, having only about a billion full-time residents. It is accessibly by GATE from most of the Known Worlds and has an enormous tourist population, generally hovering around the nine-hundred-million mark, spiking to over two billion in peak seasons. There are also another half a billion or more workers who either come to the wolrd for major events, or commute from off-world population centers. A large portion of Tournament World's surface area is not arable, and the thinly-spread population makes it more economical to import most resources through the GATE.

Economic Activities

Tournament World has played host to a variety of mining and quarrying expeditions. It's large size and general emptiness make it attractive to such ventures, with remote sites seldom policed and environmental concerns often ignored. However, the sparse population means no local markets, and the remoteness forces commercial operations must ship their produce through the GATE. The Foundation now owns most of the mineral rights for known rich deposits, and carries out regular mining operations to extract materials for internal use.

The primary source of revenue for Tournament World is the tournaments implied by the name. Mecha combat is the primary attraction, as few other worlds can offer the large and un-populated spaces generally required for launching missiles at each other. Large, organized tournaments, and ongoing clash matches dominate the landscape.

Cities

Tournament World has three main cities linked by a number of outlying communities.
