Alchemy
Alchemy is a type of magic done using reagents and ritual elements. It is somewhat similar to mundane chemistry, but the source of reagents and methods of preparation imbue them natural magic. Alchemy has it's limits, but one advantage is that at least some aspects of it can be accessed by non-mages.
Alchemy is performed by combining "reagents" with "materia". If combined with Ritual Magic, this is known as Alchemical Enchantment.
Books
The Codex Anyuhara was during the Mage Wars widely considered the seminal work on alchemy and formed the basis for Lenihur's On Alchemy. However, during the Golden Age, no fewer than 18 distinct manuscripts were discovered with the title Codex Anyhara. Each proved to be completely unrelated, and none could be conclusively proven as the source material for On Alchemy. It is theorized the surviving copies of Anyuhara as well as On Alchemy all descend from a common source document.
Countless other books existed both during and after the Mage Wars, with alchemy continuing as a common practice throughout the Alliance era.
