Employee Orientation

Scene: Ivan stands before a projector, sillouetted against the wall. Beside him is a skull and cross bones.

Fame 1:

  • Ivan: "This is the GHS symbol for poison. Also, pirates."
    • (Asterisk at the bottom of the frame "Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)")

Frame 2:screen has changed to Biohazard symbol.

  • Ivan: "This is the symbol for Biological Hazard. Note the similarities--"

Frame 3: screen has changed to Chemical Weapons hazard symbol. There is also the visible shadow of a raised hand in frame. Ivan: "--To the symbol for Chemical Weapons, which is basically an inverted form."

Frame 4: Ionizing radiation symbol, raised hand appears to be waving. Ivan: "This symbol represents ionizing particle radiation, though is more commonly known for representing radiation in all forms."

Frame 5: Radion - High Level Source symbol, raised hand is still present.

  • Ivan: "This symbol denotes radiation from a high-level source. Note the presence of the skull and--"
  • Person talking off-screen: "Why is any of this relevant to working at a video game company?"

Frame 6: door marked "Game testers" which has all of the above symbols and more on it. Ivan: "I'm glad you asked. This is the door to our game testing department. Please take note of the many hazard signs on it. Proper safety precautions should be taken for all of these during any direct visit to QA."

  • Person off screen: "...even the high-voltage one?"
  • Ivan: "ESPECIALLY the high-voltage one."

Frame 7: Non-ionizing radiation symbol

  • Ivan: "This is the warning sign for Non-ionizing radiation."
  • Person off-screen: "That kinda looks like the symbol for wifi... does wifi produce radiation?"
  • Ivan: "I'm glad you asked. Normal wireless networks do not produce dangerous amounts of non-ionizing radiation."

Frame 8: Non-ionizing radiation symbol

  • Ivan: "However, due to the similarities in the iconography, I have modified our wireless access points to also produce non-ionizing radiation, just to reduce any possible confusion about the various warning signs."
