G.S.S. Sandstorm was the line-leader and MPMTB for the first generation of Guided Missile Frigates produced during the Kamian Succession Wars. Designed by Henry K. Harbatkin, the Sandstorm was ultimately lost in action, but achieved remarkable success. The original design and it's variants were built by the thousands.

Design

Built at Gudersnipe School, Sandstorm featured the cutting-edge in technology available at the time.

Engines

The sublight, designed for speed and redundancy, was comprised of four Linear ion vacuum drives located in external nacels. Being fully bi-direction, these allowed the ship to turn with frightening speed.

The FTL drive was a fairly rudimentary Python Reactor design already in wide use with similar-sized ships. FTL drives typically are not re-designed often as retooling the fabrication plants is extremely challenging.

Weapons

Sandstorm's most notable feature was the use of 4,000 dumbfire missile tubes and an additional 400 guided tubes. Additional weaponry consisted of 16 torpedo tubes and four railguns for close-in fighting.
