Hyper Launch

Hyper Launch is a starship maneuver which involves taking advantage of the warping effect generated by a star’s gravitational field on a ships FTL drive. The maneuver involves passing close to the story and orienting the ship directly away from the star while engaging the FTL drive. If executed properly, the ship receives a massive boost of acceleration, allowing it to cross vast distances much more quickly than the otherwise possible. It is likened to a gravity-assist maneuver in normal-space, but requires even more precise timing and cooperation from multiple departments of the ship.
