Kouldatha are a species of Mystical Creature who are best known for their magical abilities. Of all the mystical creatures, their powers are most similar to human magic. Kouldatha are bipedal, but appear very rodent-like, with hunched bodies and a long tail. They live for thousands of years and can grow to be very large. The females are larger, with a mature female being as much as thirty feet high at the shoulder. They have long snouts and very large eyes, most have only two eyes but some are born with three, and on occasion may have as many as six.

Kouldatha are among the very few mystical creatures that wear clothing and use complex tools. Typical dress consists of a very large cloak or tunic, most will also wear a belt with many pouches in which they carry their belongings. Kouldatha live in caves, either natural or hollowed into cliff-faces; they very seldom build structures and are not well-suited to the sort of labor involves(a Kouldatha cannot raise it's arms above shoulder-height, which makes construction projects extremely taxing.

Their magical abilities, specifically with spell-casing and enchantments, are extremely powerful. Many of the greatest human mages had Kouldatha teachers. They are also well-known for the abilities to create enchanted items. According to legend, many of the relics from the Mythical Age were made by Kouldatha, who fought alongside humans in the grey war.

In the modern era, Kouldatha are exceptionally rare, with most having been killed off during the Second Chaotic Period. Many of those who remain are nomadic, choosing to walk endlessly for reasons of their own. Kouldatha and dragons do not get along well, so they avoid dragon lands where possible.
