A spellbook is where a mage stores his or her magical spells. Each book can hold a specific number of spells, some have additional special properties.

If the spellbook has any kind of binding, E.G. a thing around it, the character may weave a simple spell to hold it shut, locking it so none but him may open it.

Basic SpellBooks

These are the sorts of spellbooks you should be able to find at vendors in any town over a small village.

  • Simple Spellbook

Custom Spellbooks

Players can craft their own spellsbooks through the crafting system!

Crafting a spellbook involves the following:

  • Wood - to be made into paper
  • Leather - for the cover and spine
  • Metal - for decoration and locks.

Spellsbooks are very resource-intensive. Unlike a sword or other weapon, there is no blank, and they must be made in Very Fine quality to hold more than the 26 spells you can get in the best basic book.

Spellbook Recipes

Crafted spellbooks come in 3 sizes:

  • Grand
    • Size: Medium
    • Base 30 spells
  • Excellent
    • Size: Large
    • Base 40 spells
  • Wondrous
    • Size: Very Large
    • Base 100 spells

The amount of wood required varies according to the number of spells you wish the book to hold. There is a minimum, then a 'per spell' extra cost to add additional pages. So, a spellbook made with only the minimum would hold only the base number, where each extra added would add 1 additional spell. A Grand spellbook begins with 30, then every ten bales of wood adds 1 extra

  • Grand - 300 + 10 per spell
  • Excellent - 500 + 16 per spell
  • Wondrous
