Four Kings of the Last Dynasty

The Four Kings of the Last Dynasty are a set of diefic beings worshiped throughout the Multi-Verse by different names and in a variety of forms. It is said that during the Mythical Age they walked the earth and carried with them great power. They are found in the creation stories of a great many cultures. Chief amongst their modern worshipers are the Cardinal Clerics.

Kings

• Sabatoth
• Ennead
• Makbeth
• Mendalla

Sabatoth, the One King creates the original Sword Excalibur, and instructs Mendalla to give it to a king of men.

Each King was represented by a certain elemental. The Light Hawk Ennead, King of Protection, was represented by lightning. The Phoenix Makbeth, King of Freedom, was represented by fire. The appearance of the Monster God Mendalla was not known, but she was called the King of Unity, and represented by water.

“Sabaoth is the king of Life and Death as well as Earth, the One King of the Light. The Phoenix is the King of Fire, the King Of Freedom. The Light Hawk is the King of wind, water, and lightning, the King of Protection. The last King, Mendalla, is said to be the King of compromise and unity, the King of Justice. Those are the Four Kings of the Last Dynasty, the kings of the Light who created the Multi-Verse.

All the pieces were falling into place now. At Gudersnipe, Hunter had discovered who and what the Last Dynasty were, but at the time the only kings he could name were Mendalla and Sabaoth, and even then he’d been very mistaken about Sabaoth. Now he knew Makbeth and Ennead, and he knew of the sacred order.

Gods

In orthodox Cardinal theology, only the One King is a god, and the Cardinals are therefore monotheistic. However, among many cultures, a group of dieties called the Monster Gods are spoken of, and the name is very frequently applied to the Four Kings. In fact, it is heavily theorized by scholars that there were only four Monster Gods: the Four Kings of the Last Dynasty.
