N-Space or N-Space Drive is the colloquial term for a starship's non-FTL propulsion systems. No technology exists that can move a ship at both normal and FTL-speeds, in every known form of propulsion N-space and FTL are separate systems(though most FTL drives to encorporate the N-Space drive). Since most FTL drives operate by moving a ship partially out of "normal space", slower-than-light propulsion systems are usually described as "normal space" drives, or "N-Space" for short.
