Lord of Chaos

The Lords of Chaos are four figures from the Marconian religion, who act as avatars of the Marcon Alliance and are trusted with the Twelve Sanctions. According to the lore, they arrive in times of need and act as arbiters of the Court. The Lords are spoken of extensively in the Bravkar, though they exist in much older traditions. According to the legend, their names are: The Unspeakable, The Unknowable, The Unbeatable, and The Inevitable. Curiously, they do not hold a place in the Marconian pantheon; rather in each generation a given mage would take up the mantle of one of the lords. They may be cognate with the Four Kings of the Last Dynasty seen elsewhere in the Course Books; or else, may be Dark Lords of equivalent powers. Most Gudersnipe historians deny both identifications.

Living members of the order used the term "wearing" to describe themselves, as in "wearing the mantle". The tradition of the mantles is thought to descend from the Mantles of Immortality given to the Draosages in the Age of Myth. While Marconians were generally heavily at war with most dragon flights they encountered, the Dracosages were still considered gods in their mythology.
