(Note: the bold sections are designed to provide a framework and will be stripped out later.)

Introduce the characters, very minor, quick intro, just display the setting.

The characters discover their school's 5 tubas have been stolen!

The Five Tubas are:

  • The Sanguine Tuba
  • The Rose Tuba
  • The Flat Tuba
  • The Bovine Tuba
  • Schrodinger's Tuba, which may or may not be a tuba.

(Note: that is its official name.)

No one wants to do anything about it, least of all our three characters, none of whom are in the band. (Note: the school has a marching band but no football team). Raymond kind of wants to go because it sounds like an adventure, but he won't go by himself.

The Drama/Music/Math teacher who is also the school's counselor (it's a VERY run-down school) gathers together our three heroes and sends them on a magical quest to retrieve the 5 tubas. This is where the game officially begins: everything that happened prior will be communicated to the player later. Our heroes embark upon an epic quest to retrieve the tubas! But first, in order to embark, they must leave the school, and in order to leave the school, they must defeat the bully...

The first 2 or 3 sections of the world have no real bearing on the plot and just include various dungeons, side-quests, and grinding opportunities. The Sanguine Tuba and the Rose Tuba are random world-drops, meaning you can find more than one of each, and also sell them.

After much adventuring, the party learns the location of the Flat Tuba, held by a fearsome cadre of Mariachismos. The party learns the location of the dungeon (a taco stand) and sally forth to reclaim their tuba! The dungeon should have about six levels and contain mostly racially-insensitive caricatures (as enemies). The final showdown will be with a powerful band; once they defeat this band they retrieve the Flat Tuba and learn of the fate of the other two tubas.

All 5 tubas were originally stolen by the Mariachismos. The Sanguine Tuba and the Rose Tuba were sold off, the Flat Tuba kept, and the Bovine Tuba and Schrodinger's Tuba, which may or may not be a tuba, were turned over to the forces of evil.

The party must now journey fourth in search of the 'forces of evil' to retrieve the final tubas. They learn that the Bovine Tuba is being held in the Death Fortress (we'll fill in better names for this stuff later) and must fight their way through at least 3 screens to get to it.

The Death Fortress is the hardest dungeon and contains the Bovine Tuba along with lots of powerful items and lots of big strong enemies. The boss is some giant machine they have to destroy or whatever.

After escaping the Death Fortress with the Bovine Tuba the party makes their way back to the school, but they are still missing one final tuba...

Ultimately, the party must fight some sort of mad industrialist who is bent on owning Schrodinger's Tuba since it is apparently some sort of rare old instrument (or might be) and the only way to take it back from them is for the party to journey to his mansion and defeat him in mortal combat. They've already foiled his plan to destroy the world, but now they have to get the tuba back.

The party returns to their school triumphantly bearing all 5 tubas! Or 4, if Schrodinger's Tuba isn't a tuba!
