Substance 360

Substance 360 is a stable, super-heavy element produced by the Gudersnipe Foundation. It is manufactured in Mega Colliders and used in emergency power generation. The substances properties are not widely published, though it's elemental form is described as an opaque blue solid. Samples have never been distributed for scientific analysis outside the Foundation, but a few examples are on display in various museums.

Power Generation

Called "Substance 360 Generators", they are the standard backup power supply for most Crimson Blade warships. A single generator, about the size of a small refrigerator, is capable of powering a capitol ship for several days.

The physics behind these generators and their design are highly classified, though the Foundation has admitted that producing Substance 360 requires an order of magnitude more energy than the generators can produce. It is therefor not economical as a primary power source. The isotope is stable, however, and the generators have a shelf-life on the order of several centuries, with proper maintenance. Each generator is a self-contained, "use and discard" unit; one activated it generates power for ten days, then the materials inside are expended.

Variants

A unique "Substance 361 Generator" was built and flown aboard the Saratoga. The same crew also used a similar but less sophisticated version for the prototype Allapa Dismissive, though the production model used a more conventional power source.
