Armor requires many of the same properties as weapons. There is no subtype amongs armor, but there is material and type-weight. Damage is replaced by Armor Class, and there is no hand. Quality, Rarity, and actual weight in bounds is still required.
There are three different types of armor: Leather, Plate, and Chain. Unlike weapons, however, there is no further subtype.
