The Progenitors is a name often ascribed to the Eladamri or Ancients, but more accurately refers to the race that came before them. The region of space where the progenitors are believed to reside is reffered to as "where the Ancients dare not tread".
The progenitors are first mentioned in The Road to War(Story) from The Road to War in which Jason describes them somewhat cryptically when he speaks of the region of space the Victory Fleet is heading towards.
