The position of Squire Dragon was first created by Astrid Stador early in the Golden Age in order to give legitimacy to the little girl following her around everywhere she went.

A Squire Dragon functions in a role similar to a knight's squire, in so far as they follow the Slayer Dragon around and help them with their gear, open doors, run erands, and generally act as an attache.

The position was carried out informally for many years, and acted as a way for Slayer Dragons to foster and train youths from an early age, with the intention that they, too, would one day become Slayer Dragons. The position was not made official until the early-to-mid Second Age when Robert Desaradie legitmized the practice and established the first set of rules to govern it.

Notes

The Squire Dragon should not be confused with the office of Squire from the kingdom of Bur'I
