MRPG Pillars

Pillars are a lot like Skill Trees, only not, because they don't branch. Each Class and Race gets access to a series of Pillars, and gains points to spend on these at level up. Each Pillar essentially represents a single trainable skill that unlocks new abilities along the way. They are focused around the thing that makes that class great, whatever "Holds it up", much like the pillars of a great hall. Also like said pillars, they are often the only thing left standing when the rest has fallen.

Every Pillar is topped by one specific ultimate ability. Compare the Pillar to working tirelessly to master one specific move or technique, and along the way learning several useful things. Levels of pillars have no specific minimum level requirement; the idea is to be able to master a specific pillar early or gradually progress in several.

Points System

Each Class has 3 distinct Pillars, some races may add additional pillars(if I go back to making races). Players receive 1 point at character creation because the characters start at Level 1. At level, they receive 1 additional point for a maximum of 24 points.

Each Pillar has 9 levels, allowing the character to max out any two of them.

Orders

Each Pillar is separated into 9 levels or Orders, with the ninth level being the bottom or lowest. First-Order abilities are the most powerful in the pillar system. Some pillars will also add an Arch ability unlocked by maxing out two adjacent pillars.

Sample Pillar Table:

Base Abilities

The base of each Pillar is a +1 and +1 Per Order passive bonus. The Per Order applies to points placed only in that Pillar. That means +1 for the first point and +1 for each additional point for a total bonus of 10.

Arch Ability

An Arch Ability as something that bridges 2 pillars. If you have gained maximum points in two abilities you automatically unlock the Arch. Note that this is not optional, but a state-based effect.
