CTRL+Z is a time travel technology first presented in the short story Virus from The Path to Ascension, and later in the story CTRL+Z from The Road to War. The story CTRL+Z takes place chronologically before Virus according to the Gudersnipe Stories list.
The technology is based on Shoten Jump systems built into all Gudersnipe starships, but requires the power of a Zero-Point Generator to activate (which the Saratoga obtains in CTRL+Z and loses in Retrospectus). While other time travel techniques exist, CTRL+Z allows for short, precise jumps.
