Mage Wars works around 5 specific character stats that are increased through leveling and through equipped items.

  • Strength
  • Speed
  • Intelligence
  • Stamina
  • Dexterity

Stats are used in combat and to determine if the player meets requirements for certain items.

Stat Functions

  • Strength: Determines how hard you strike when attacking, how much weight you can carry, and affects how much damage your spells do.
  • Speed: How fast you can attack, how quickly you can reloud ranged weapons, how fast you can switch weapons in combat, and limits your max base-crit.
  • Intelligence: Determines maximum MP, is used heavily in Success calculations for spellcasting, and determines how much damage spells can do. Used also in stealth-checks, lock-picking, traps, and support magic proficiencies such as Lore and Transcription. For melee classes, a certain amount of inteligence is required to take some Facets.
  • Stamina: Determines maximum HP, and how fast HP and MP are recovered.
  • Dexterity: Used in AV-calculation heavily, also helps calculate your maximum base-crit.

Stats and Facets

Various Facets are going to have minimum stat requirements. These are based on your actual unbuffed stats and not various bonuses attained through equipped items. Some items may also incorporate stat-checks to determine if the wielder is worthy.

For the player, evenly distributing stats will give them a more versatile role, while focusing on a single stat may make their character better at a specific task("Me Warrior, hit thing with sword, hit hard!" -describes a level 88 warrior with 88 points in strength and no points in anything else.)
