The Thenius is a river on the south side of the Stormreaver Range, fed by Lake Bara. The river was known in old times, and it is believed that the city-state of Asysias (a possible location of High Tower) was along its banks.

The river has shifted numerous times during recorded history, sometimes by hundreds of miles, over countless centuries.

In the Fourth Age, the river was canalized, allowing large ships from the Sword Coast access to the Three Baras and through the Upper Thenius to Stormreaver Valley via a system of locks.
