Runeing is carried out with a runic alphabet, runes are the primary tool for making stat boosts and adding to hit points and mana. Based on these rules, it should be possible to compose all allowable templates.

Template Rules

Inscription templates cannot mix rune-types(you cannot have Strength, Speed, and Stamina all on the same temple).

For templates using 1-3 runes, only one beginning and finishing rune is required. For templates using 5 runes, a second finisher must be added, and for those using 8 runes, 2 beginning runes and 3 finishing runes are required.

Example: a +8 Strength Inscription to a piece of armor would look like AAHHHHHHHHZZZ and consist of 13 runes total.

Stat Effects

As covered under Stats, the five stats are Strength, Speed, Stamina, Intelligence, and Dexterity. For each stat there is a unique rune. Each time the rune is used in the template, it adds 1 point to the stat. Therefore, the stat bonus to an item is ultimately limited by the amount of space it has for runes.

Stat Bonus templates come in +1, +2, +3, +5, and +8, making a possible +19 bonus to a single stat on a single item(this bonus would require 33 runes and could only be placed on a Very Fine, Very Large item).

Proficiency Effects

Proficiencies come in +3, +5, and +8. Proficiency effects also require that the stat modifier be included immediately following the beginning runes.

Example: a +3 Bladed rune on a piece of armor would be AHCCCZ.
