Project Ascension

The Ascension project was a highly secretive series of programs carried out by Hunter Jusenkyou and Jason Bur'I in the background of the Course Books series. It is hinted that the project began perhaps hours after they first met in the short story Introductions from The Concourse to Victory; whereas the short story 'Forbidden' suggests that it drew some material from the Eladamri. In story-order it is first revealed fully in The Path to Ascension(Story) from the book of the same name. The full extent and scope of the project developed over the series, though it is widely regarded as leading up to the events of The Concourse to Victory(Story) in the book of the same name.

The basic outline for the project involved developing special weapons and technologies to combat the Marigold threat, though at one point they did discover how to summon the Army of Light used against Ryoga during the first book.

Various indications throughout the series would indicate that many seemingly random events were in fact part of a larger plan known only to Hunter and Jason, who were matched up on the role sheet at Gudersnipe.
