The Erebus and Terror-class was a dual-warship design invented and perfected by Joshua Jusenkyou. The class consisted of two ships working together in a close pair, that together with only a handful of support ships could provide the same capabilities as an entire battle group.

The Erebus

The G.S.S. Erebus design borrowed heavily from the dual-use G-001-0001 Sahar Jusenkyou Class Carrier, which was a carrier equiped with as much firepower as a heavy battleship. Unlike the Sahar, which was essentially the size of a carrier and a battleship ducttaped together, the Erebus design was far more compact and manuverable. It shared more of the characteristics of a warship and was classified as such, but could carry a large fighter compliment.

Erebus lacked the acceleration curve of the Sahar, but kept all of the speed. It also handled better, with enhanced maneuvering and control systems, making maneuvers at speed less jarring to the crew.

The Terror

The G.S.S. Terror design was based more on the Nelson philosophy of tough, fast, manuverable ships able to penetrate enemy formations and take the fight directly to them. Though the size of a large cruiser, Terror was as fast and manuverable as a destroyer. The N-808-B it was inspired by could run circles around it, but for something in the size-classification of a capital ship, Terror was trully a marvel.

Armament

The Erebus and Terror ships were both armed with Hybrid cannons as their primary weapons, with the Erebus carrying turret-mounted designs and Terror support integrated versions. With every other ship in the fleet still using old-fashioned Beam cannons, this was enough of an edge to give the two ships alone more firepower than an entire battle group.

A curious feature of the design involved high-speed, heavily encrypted communications between the ships that allowed controllers onboard Erebus to operate and fire weapons on Terror. This allowed Terror a smaller crew.

One weapon in particular was the Sword of Damocles, a type of missile based on the defense satellites used by the Roger Young. The Sword of Damocles was too large for any missile tube, and had to be launched from special hangers protected by armored doors. The weapon contained a two-stage motor that used a traditional missile engine to propell the weapon to speed, at which point an Ion vacuum drive took over. Complete with a full manuvering system, the weapon could carry a wide variety of warheads. It was also equipped with four single-fire Charged particle cannons. The Sword of Damocles could use the cannon to either shoot down enemy ships on its way, or punch through the shields of its target. The warhead was buried deep inside the weapon, next to the reactor, and equipped with a delayed-action fuse. Since the cannons allowed the weapon to cut through shields, it would often strike the hull at considerable speed, where its mass allowed it to hammer right through armor, making the warhead explode inside the enemy vessel.
